The new $130-billion government wage subsidy announced will allow eligible businesses to pay their employees $1500 each a fortnight over the next six months. This wage subsidy has been put in place in response to the financial challenges many small businesses are facing during the Coronavirus outbreak.
The subsidy will apply to full-time, part-time and casual employees (who've been with their employer for 12 months or more) and is designed to help businesses stay afloat and keep their staff employed. The scheme has also been extended to cover sole traders.
