Versatile multi-purpose spaces combine to create a ‘centre within a centre'

Excitement is building for May 2019 when SMC is due to re-open, unveiling new look interiors, new technologies and new spaces that complement the centre’s striking monumental architecture.

Continuing the exploration of the importance of adaptable function spaces, SMC will soon offer 13 multi-purpose spaces with the addition of two new conference rooms on Level 4 – Remington and Northcott – that each cater to 140 guests. These spaces are designed to make the most of natural daylight and feature portal style windows framing views over Sydney’s south.

Venues on this soon to be revealed Level 4 can be booked individually or combined for a self-contained ‘conference centre within the centre’ with a dedicated registration area and Boardroom as well as the Rawson room for break-out sessions. Operable walls allow for numerous event formats and flexible room configurations. Event organisers also have the option of expanding to rooms on other levels as required.

General manager Paul Davison says that "with direct access from the ground floor, leading audio-visual services and superior technology as well as dedicated kitchen facilities and catering, the Level 4 update creates a unique ‘conference centre within the centre’ that provides clients and delegates with a brand-new contemporary meeting space in the middle of Sydney’s CBD".

Those planning conferences and functions for May 2019 onward can talk with SMC’s venue experts now about how best to combine spaces for perfectly customised events. "Our experienced team are available to help clients explore the endless and flexible configuration options that will best suit your next event".
