Finalists Revealed for Australian Event Awards 2018

The Australian Event Awards are pleased to announce finalists for 2018, with 85 finalists selected across 23 categories, and entries spanning every state and territory in Australia.

“The diversity of Australia’s events industry continues to amaze me, as does the ability of the Awards to put a spotlight on not just the incredible events and achievements which take place each year, but to draw out the challenges event organisers manage to overcome through determination, innovation, collaboration and resourcefulness,” said Sandy Hollway AO, co-chair of the Awards’ Independent Industry Judging Panel.

Amongst the finalists, the country’s best business, community and regional events and industry achievements sit alongside some of the nation’s major festivals.

This year, White Night Melbourne 2018 (VIC), Santos Tour Down Under 2018 (SA), Vivid Sydney 2018 (NSW) and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (QLD) have all gained finalist spots.

In the business events space, finalists include Mumbrella360 2018, IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation 2018 and Project Botanicals - A Journey to the Edges of Taste, Music & Imagination 2017.

In the Achievement categories, finalists include Mediatec Asia Pacific for their work with Australian Open Series by Tennis Australia 2017/2018, ExpoNet for their work in exhibition and event design, project management and build services, Stagekings for their work in creating stages and structure for events and Cellarmasters for their work on Touring Cellar Door 2017/2018.

“I’m extremely pleased to say innovation is alive and well in Australian events and achievements in the events industry. Entries into this year’s Event Awards show Australian event professionals are not content to simply maintain the status quo – they continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in events to produce outstanding experiences and lead the world in our industry,” said Brenda LaPorte, co-chair of the Awards’ Independent Industry Judging Panel.

Individual and company award categories include finalists nominated by a broad group of organisations including Rizer, GPJ Australia, Forum Group Events & Marketing and cievents.

Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at Novotel Twin Waters Resort, Sunshine Coast QLD on Wednesday 21 November, 2018.

The Awards night will be the pinnacle of the three-day Australian Event Awards and Symposium experience, in which events professionals from around the country will gather to partake in a unique conference offering for 2018. The fully interactive, hands-on Symposium program offers Workshops run by events experts in areas such as risk, safety and security; project management; marketing and creativity; whilst the headlining Masterclasses facilitated by former Wallaby and journalist, Peter FitzSimons, and celebrity Chef, Matt Golinski explore the art of communication, creativity and agility, resourcefulness and resilience.

Registrations and tickets are now on sale at www.eventawards.com.au. Early Bird discounts end 8 October 2018.
