Rock and Roll Team Building is a National Finalist in the 2018 Australian Event Awards

Released by Rock and Roll Team Building on Monday, 17 September 2018

Rock and Roll Team Building has been recognised for its outstanding work in events with the announcement of National Finalists in the 2018 Australian Event Awards.

Rock and Roll Team Building is a National Finalist in the category of ‘Best New Product’ for its workshop ‘Rock with the Culture of Indigenous Australia’ featuring Apakatjah.  Through a collaboration with the talented Alice Springs based duo ‘Apakatjah’ (pronounced ‘Uppa-cut-ja’) this workshop blends stirring harmonies and traditional instruments from Australia’s Indigenous Culture with authentic Australian rock n’ roll music from bands such as Yothu Yindi, the Warrumpi Band, INXS, Midnight Oil and Cold Chisel.

Rock and Roll Team Building have collaborated with Apakatjah to blend their cultural influences into a workshop format which presents the audience with an educational insight into Australia’s Indigenous Culture in a cool and interesting way. In addition, the format provides Apakatjah with a platform to speak about the music and education programs they deliver for youth in remote communities around Australia.

Rock and Roll Team Building’s General Manager, Nicole White, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be a finalist in the 2018 Australian Event Awards.  The collaboration with Apakatjah is extremely special and we are very proud to have Jonathan and Dion in the Rock and Roll Team Building family.  We were fortunate to deliver our first workshop with Apakatjah for Tourism Australia in late 2017 and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.”

Following a rigorous first round of judging by event industry leaders and experts around Australia, Rock and Roll Team Building’s place amongst the National Finalists has the weight of the industry behind it.

Entries are judged on all aspects of the achievement including innovation, best practice and sustainability as well as the achievement’s contribution to events and the difficulties encountered in executing it.

Co-chair of the Event Awards Judging Panel Brenda LaPorte said:

“I’m extremely pleased to say innovation is alive and well in Australian events and achievements in the events industry. Entries into this year’s Event Awards show Australian event professionals are not content to simply maintain the status quo – they continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in events to produce outstanding experiences and lead the world in our industry.”

Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at a lavish Awards Ceremony on 21 November at Novotel Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
