Brisbane hosts Tourism Australia's Dreamtime

After 18 months in the making, the Brisbane Convention Bureau hosted Tourism Australia’s signature incentive product showcase, Dreamtime 2017 from 4-5 December. 

Held every two years in a different Australian destination, the Dreamtime program kicked off at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre with an official opening ceremony featuring dancers from the Aboriginal Performing Arts College and innovative choreographed LED lighting.

Business to business pre-scheduled appointments then took place between delegates and Australian business events products, destinations and experiences.

A total of 94 international incentive planners, 19 media inclluding 4 domestic and 88 sellers descended on Brisbane for the two-day program. International guests represented:

The Dreamtime 2017 Media Program treated international and domestic media to a behind-the-scenes tour of the new W Brisbane – set to open in March 2018 on the Brisbane riverfront. The group then attended a networking reception at Eleven Rooftop Bar where they learnt about the upcoming Howard Smith Wharves precinct and met some of Brisbane’s best-known identities including internationally acclaimed dancer Li Cunxin and World Welterweight Champion boxer Jeff Horn..

A stunning riverside welcome event at Riverbar & Kitchen marked the end of the first day and offered delegates an uninterrupted view of the city’s iconic Story Bridge lit up in the official Dreamtime colours of silver and blue. The evening culminated in a spectacular fireworks display over the Brisbane River.

The two-day Dreamtime 2017 program also featured networking events and product showcases to help attendees discover Brisbane’s creative incentive products and destination experiences.

To coincide with Dreamtime, the Brisbane Convention Bureau also launched a new Brisbane Signature Experiences itinerary featuring 14 new incentive experiences, many of which attendees got to trial first-hand.

Feedback from local operators and visiting industry and media has been overwhelmingly positive. Brisbane Marketing is expecting a host of new leads as a result of the event and looks forward to welcoming new incentive travelers to our city.
