Recruitment Tip

Same same but different

Ben CarnegieHow often when recruiting for a new person for your business would you consider someone with similar experience from another industry?

As recruiters, we are given a brief to fulfil and then try as best we can to tick every box on the clients wish list.

It doesn't happen often enough but it certainly does happen that the person you least expect to be 'The One' can be the best person for the job.

A fresh set of eyes can bring a lot of new creative ideas which can lead to you putting on an amazing event or leading to new revenue streams.

Bringing on someone new to the industry can be daunting to a business owner as there is a certain amount of risk involved so you should be putting measures in place to ensure your investment is going to work.

These measures being the training required to give them the industry knowledge so they can apply the skills you hired them for. In a candidate short market, it's these risks that can add real value to your business and ultimately the industry as a whole.

I'm not saying take anyone off the street but by being open minded enough to consider hiring someone different, yet 'same same' could make all the difference.
