Pan Pacific Hotels Group set to open second PARKROYAL in Melbourne at the premium waterfront hub of Melbourne Docklands

image 1Pan Pacific Hotels Group will open the 281-room PARKROYAL Melbourne – its fourth PARKROYAL hotel in Australia and the second in Melbourne – in 2016.

The hotel, developed by Digital Harbour Holdings and managed by the Group, will offer 281 beautifully furnished rooms, a restaurant and lounge, gymnasium, lap pool and meeting spaces. It is located within the Digital Harbour Precinct of Melbourne Docklands. Docklands is an A$12 billion premium waterfront development that is part of an on-going project to renew the city’s bustling Central Business District.

PARKROYAL Melbourne will be part of the 37-storey hotel and apartment complex The Altus, which was formally launched by the Minister for Planning, The Hon Matthew Guy MLC and the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Robert Doyle. Designed by Moull Murray Architects, the glass sheathed tower, which offers 360 degree panoramic views of the city centre and the Victoria Harbour waterfront, is set to strike an architectural statement in the city’s landscape.

Spanning the first 18 storeys of The Altus complex, PARKROYAL Melbourne is one of the first hotels in Melbourne Docklands targeting an Award of Merit under the Docklands Ecologically Sustainable Development Guide.

Guests at PARKROYAL Melbourne will enjoy easy access to key business centres and modern landmarks such as Etihad Stadium and Southern Cross Station. Melbourne’s famed tram network lies just outside the hotel’s doors and lifestyle attractions, along with the waterfront events and entertainment hub Central Pier, feature a diverse variety of restaurants, cafes and bars.

David Napier, Executive Director of Digital Harbour, welcomes the involvement of the iconic PARKROYAL brand and its ‘Your Trusted Local Companion’ proposition in the ongoing roll-out of the Digital Harbour precinct. “Once settled into PARKROYAL Melbourne, guests will have access to Melbourne’s famous tram network, including the free city circle trams. With a tram super-stop located within 100 metres of the front door and with several routes to select from, departing every few minutes, guests and residents will be able to discover and explore the centre of the city and beyond,” he said.

In Melbourne, Pan Pacific Hotels Group also owns and manages PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport, which has been named “Best Airport Hotel, Australia/Pacific” by the World Airport Awards for two years running in 2012 and 2013.

Elsewhere in Australia, the PARKROYAL brand enjoys a presence in Sydney with the 196-room PARKROYAL Parramatta and the 340-room newly-refurbished PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney. The latter unveiled a multi-million dollar refurbishment earlier this year featuring refreshed rooms and interiors, enhanced Club Lounge facilities and the use of the latest hotel technology for greater guest security and comfort. This won the hotel the “Redeveloped Accommodation Hotel of the Year” title at this year’s Tourism Accommodation Australia (NSW)

“Australia holds great significance for us as the home of the PARKROYAL brand and as an important growth market for the Group,” said Craig Bond, Area General Manager – Oceania, Pan Pacific Hotels Group.

“The opening of PARKROYAL Melbourne builds on the success of our PARKROYAL hotels in steadily winning over guests and customers since the brand was reintroduced to Australia in 2010. We are focused on bringing both our Pan Pacific and PARKROYAL brands to more customers in key cities like Brisbane, Perth and Auckland.”

2013 has marked a significant year for the PARKROYAL brand with the opening of the award-winning and iconic hotel-in-a-garden PARKROYAL on Pickering in Singapore.

The Group also announced the upcoming debut of the brand in Indonesia with the signing of two management agreements for PARKROYAL Rainbow Hills Bogor Resort (opening in 2015) and PARKROYAL Pecatu Bali Resort (opening in 2017).
