Built in 1887, the Queensland Heritage listed GPO Hotel is one of Brisbane’s rarest examples of Victorian Italianate style architecture and one of Fortitude Valley’s most recognisable landmarks. Operating as the Fortitude Valley General Post Office for over 100 years, the Post Office played a vital role within the community by providing essential telecommunication and postal services. In 2002 the building's ornate façade was restored to its former glory and integrated with a radically stylish and modern urban interior. The GPO Hotel has since become a popular icon in the Brisbane nightlife scene. Its character, charm and functionality as a venue sees the GPO Hotel play host to a wide range of events including fashion shows, cocktail parties, conferences and product launches.
