New Brand Positioning Based on the Warmth and Hospitality of Fiji

Fiji's National Airline, Air Pacific, recently unveiled its new brand showcasing the airline's new tag-line "The World's Friendliest Airline". In the coming weeks, advertising featuring the airlines' employees portraying the Fijian spirit will launch. Air Pacific and its regional airline Pacific Sun are uniquely capable of this positioning due primarily to the wonderful reputation of the Fiji islands and their people.

Managing Director and CEO John Campbell said, "Our entire team at Air Pacific are excited about this new positioning. We come from the world's friendliest place and this gives us the confidence to call ourselves the world's friendliest airline. Thousands of travelers visit Fiji every year and experience the warmth and friendliness of our people.  As Fiji's international airline we deliver that genuine warmth with passion and pride. Our motivation is to offer the best of Fiji to all our guests. For Fiji customers traveling abroad you do not leave Fiji until you step off our aircraft and for everyone coming into Fiji, you are at home the moment you step on board and our crew welcome you with a friendly Fijian "Bula!"

Air Pacific's new positioning complements Tourism Fiji's "Fiji Me" brand which will be used extensively in overseas marketing campaigns to showcase the diversity of the Fiji experience and reinforce the special beauty of Fiji, our people.

The launch of Air Pacific's and Pacific Sun's new brand follows a number of initiatives targeted at providing greater value for customers, including:

  • Completion of the interior refurbishment program on all aircraft, valued at F$15M.
  • Refurbishment of the Tabua Lounge at Nadi Airport with a distinctly Fijian theme.
  • Enhancement of the airport check-in, Immigration and departure gate experience for premium customers with the introduction of Express Lanes.
  • Establishment of a global Contact Centre in Fiji where local and overseas customers get a Fiji experience from first contact. The move to a 24/7 operation from 01 January 2010 provides further accessibility for customers.
  • Ongoing enhancements of the carrier's website, airpacific.com.
  • Re-launch of the Tabua Club program providing members with a broad range of new and exciting benefits (visit tabuaclub.com for more details).
  • New meals, wines and beverage selections in-flight.
  • Increase in baggage allowance to 23kgs per person.
  • Expansion of Pacific Sun's domestic services.
  • Launch of the new Apia-Honolulu service.

And most recently the launch of the new Nadi-Hong Kong service to provide customers access between Fiji, Hong Kong, UK, Europe, China, India, South East Asia and the Middle East. The commercial partnership with Cathay Pacific and other airlines provides seamless connections to and from these destinations at affordable prices.

A rendition of Air Pacific's catchy new jingle themed "Give Me a Smile" was developed with the help of Fiji's own Danny Costello. The jingle personifies the new brand and will resonate strongly with local customers.

Mr Campbell stated, "We are aware of the important role we play as brand ambassadors for Fiji wherever we fly. We will continue to strive for operational excellence and continue to invest in product enhancements to ensure our service delivery supports the new brand."

Air Pacific, Fiji's International Airline, operates a fleet of Boeing jet aircraft and ATR42-500's to 16 destinations in 11 countries. Sister airline, Pacific Sun operates a combination of ATR42-500's, De Havilland Twin Otter and Britten Norman Islander aircraft on Fiji domestic routes with the ATR42's also servicing regional sectors between Suva, Tonga, and Funafuti as well as between Nadi and Port Vila.
