SOFITEL GOLD COST BROADBEACH WINS TOP HONOUR AT THE QUEENSLAND TOURISM AWARDS FOR 2011
In what has been a stellar year of award wins, the Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach is now celebrating its biggest achievement for 2011.
Last Friday night, the luxurious five-star hotel was announced as the state winner for Meetings and Business Tourism at the illustrious Queensland Tourism Awards held at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
This accolade firmly establishes Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach as the leading Meetings and Business Tourism venue within Queensland. Sister hotel, the Sofitel Brisbane Central, is also celebrating after being named a finalist in two different awards categories - Meetings and Business Tourism and in the Luxury Accommodation category.
2011 was tipped to be the Gold Coast Convention Centre's third consecutive year of winning in the Meetings and Business Tourism category, which would have seen the Centre enter the Queensland Tourism Hall of Fame. Instead, the prestigious title was awarded to Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach who outshone not only the Gold Coast Convention Centre, but also the likes of Jupiter's Townsville, Hilton Cairns and O'Reilly's Lost World Conference Centre.

This is the second year that the hotel has entered the Queensland Tourism Awards under the category of Meetings and Business Tourism. In a double gong for Broadbeach, the precinct's tourism body, Broadbeach Alliance also won the state title for the Festivals and Events category with its 10th Annual Blues on Broadbeach festival.
