Vue Grand takes the plate
The Vue Grand in Queenscliff has taken out the prestigious overall Golden Plate award for excellence in hospitality for 2011, in the Geelong and Otway region.
Also taking out Winner of Best Restaurant Fine Dining, Best Chef - Lyndon Betts, Best Cellar of Local Wines, and highly commended for Best Customer Service, Best Front of House Person - Caleb Fleet, and finalist for Best Menu of Local Foods and Best Value for Money, the Vue Grand has cemented it's place among the ranks of the best restaurants in the Geelong-Otway region.
Winner of the Best Restaurant Fine Dining, Best Chef and Best Cellar of Local Wines 2010, the judges noted that the Vue Grand was "even better" in 2011 and praised the Vue Grand as being a star in the Bellarine Peninsula.
"The food served here is an explosion of gastronomic delight," the judges wrote. "The craftsmanship behind the food is exceptional. Add to this an extensive wine list drawn from all corner of the globe with a healthy bias towards the local wineries, and in the Vue Grand you have one of the finest restaurants in regional Victoria."
The Vue Grand has a commitment to a strong focus on using local produce and products and really showcasing the very best of what the Bellarine Peninsula has to offer.
"It's a no brainer really," says Food and Beverage Manager Caleb Fleet. "With all these wonderful products on our door step and great wines it would be such a shame not to use them."
"We have worked hard over the last couple of years to promote the Bellarine and remain consistent in what we do. From our amazing rooftop bar, to the numerous weddings and conferences we hold, to the café and restaurant, we really have something for everyone to experience at the Vue Grand."
"It takes a strong, skilled and knowledgeable team to be able to create what we do, but it's the passion and confidence in the staff that allows us the opportunity to go better and create our seasonal menus. We get to have fun with our special dining events such as our sold out Duck and Pinot lunch and Pork, Cider and Vine lunch as well as our exciting upcoming events such as the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
"It really is a wonderful acknowledgement competing against so many other fantastic venues in the region. We are honored and pleased to be able to continue in striving to excite and innovate"
