Crown Towers Perth - a stunning expression of bespoke hotel design

Set to open in December 2016, Crown Towers Perth is poised to bring an unmatched level of bespoke hotel design to the banks of Perth’s Swan River.  The design team for Crown Towers Perth has included award winning Melbourne based architects, interior designers and urban planners, Bates Smart, elite Interior Architect, Michael Fiebrich and leading Interior Designer, Blainey North to bring a stunning level of detail and finesse to the interior of the hotel, while Hassell Landscaping has created a truly unique resort experience for the hotel exterior and outdoor spaces.

Melbourne based architects, interior designers and urban planners, Bates Smart, created the vision for the hotel’s public spaces and have delivered an end result that is rich and layered, inviting, luxurious and meticulous. Stand-out, bespoke features have been incorporated throughout the hotel including travertine stone, an indoor garden reminiscent of a Roman piazza, expansive spaces and arched corridors. Bates Smart took inspiration from US design house PUCCI to create striking carpets and rugs that incorporate rich bold colours and capture the vibrancy of the 60s and 70s.

Award-winning Interior Architect, Michael Fiebrich has created 500 guestrooms, Suites and Villas which are nothing short of unforgettable. Employing an architectural approach to the interior design, Fiebrich’s clean, tailored detailing carries through not only to walls, floors and ceilings but is expressed in everything from custom carpets to rich fabrics.

Blainey North designers have created a luxury spa facility for Crown Perth that will be among the best in the world. With a design inspired by traditional Roman bath houses, Crown Spa Perth will be calm, unique and completely glamorous. The new spa boasts bespoke features including a giant image of an Agate stone by the renowned Italian artist Alex Turco as a central feature in the reception area and within each treatment room. The spa’s vitality pools are tiled in gold and platinum tiles, with marble showers and beautifully curtained relaxation zones. Specially commissioned artworks by Australian photographers focus on the theme of water while custom designed furniture and lighting reflects the detailing of the interiors.

Blainey North have also custom designed Crystal Club, an exclusive lounge for hotel guests perched on the 15th floor, which features a private reception area along with a separate dining area, bar, terrace lounge, each boasting expansive views of the Swan River and Perth CBD. The interior design for Crystal Club has been inspired by a type of naturally occurring crystal called the Bismuth Crystal and has been articulated as a journey through the space, which plays with the notions of light and darkness and weaves its way from dark and intimate spaces to light and open public areas.

YWS Design and Bates Smart were commissioned to deliver the hotel’s stunning entrance. As guests arrive they are greeted with a series of grand seven-metre-high glass façade and stone columns.

In a stunning, stand out feature, South African architect and owner of willowlamp, Adam Hoets, collaborated with Bates Smart, to design a bespoke range of breathtaking feature chandeliers which are a stunning central focus in the hotel lobby. The chandeliers are suspended from the lobby’s seven metre ceiling and comprise of four individual clusters each made up of 150 LED lamps and 20,000 metres of ball chain totaling three tonnes in weight for a stunning, illuminated sculptural display.

Hassell Landscaping has designed both the hotel’s exterior and outdoor spaces. Drawing inspiration from the flowing forms of the Swan River, the city skyline and the story of the dreamtime creature, the Wagyl which is said to have been responsible for the creation of the Swan and Canning Rivers, the hotel’s breathtaking exterior design is curvaceous, earthy and inviting.

Through its curved design, the hotel gently embraces both the forecourt and the resort-style swimming pools and accentuates the Swan River and CBD views, with any barriers between guests and those views melting away through thoughtful design. While bold and instantly recognisable on the Perth skyline, the hotel also boasts a level of fine detail that is only unveiled upon closer inspection. Materials have been thoughtfully selected to reflect the tones and colours of the surrounding landscape and the expansive West Australian sky, bringing a clean, fresh edge to the banks of the Swan River.

Hassell’s multi-tiered pool area will offer a truly unforgettable resort experience including the Enclave, a secluded poolside retreat with luxurious cabanas and cocktail bar surrounding a private pool. Hassell designed the pool to make the most of the breathtaking views of the Swan River and Perth CBD and have incorporated a host of luxe features including infinity edges, mini islands, multi-levels, baha shelves, sheltered spaces, a central water feature and sculptural walls.

Crown own and operate Western Australia’s only fully integrated entertainment resort gracing the banks of the Swan River and overlooking the Perth skyline. In 2004, Crown took ownership of the former Burswood International Resort Casino complex, and commenced an expansive eight-year $750 million development and renovation plan to transition the property into a premium tourist destination. The highly anticipated Crown Towers commenced construction in 2014 and will bring Crown Perth’s total capacity to 1,200 rooms, making it the largest hotel complex the city has ever seen.
