Strong performance by BCEC at Queensland Industry Awards

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) won four of the major award categories at the Queensland Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) Awards in Brisbane this week.

The Centre was awarded ‘Meeting Venue 500 Delegates or More’, ‘Association or Government Meeting of the Year’, ‘In-House AV Services’ and ‘Banquet and Catering’.

The awards celebrate an outstanding period for BCEC in 2014, the strongest in the history of the Centre, the highlight of which was the hosting of the 2014 G20 Leaders Summit.

The MEA Awards recognise excellence, best business practice and professionalism in the meetings and events industry. The venues performance was assessed across a wide range of criteria including business and financial planning, contribution to the meetings and events industry, innovation and corporate social responsibility.

BCEC General Manager, Bob O’Keeffe said the awards reflect the Centre’s absolute commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and personal service in the delivery of events.

“The Centre is a major supporter and key player in the meetings industry. Business Events are an important part of the economic fabric of Queensland and Australia and their contribution is even greater in terms of knowledge wealth and education and social impact.”

Mr O’Keeffe praised the BCEC Team and said they were integral to the quality of the Centre’s event delivery.

BCEC will now represent Queensland in all four categories at the 2014 MEA National Awards on Hamilton Island in May.
